Overcoming My Fear- Photoshoots and Things
When I was thinking about how I was going to introduce my first fashion blog, I was thinking about just diving into my latest project that I just completed back in May, but God prompted me to go back to the beginning. So here I am at 11:07 pm looking at old pictures of my journey and it’s really crazy to me the things that I have discredited myself for. I have had AMAZING GOD opportunities.
Why don’t we trust God enough to believe that we are who He says we are?
I think we get so busy looking for other people to applaud and validate our success that we don’t take the time to see ourselves. I mean really see ourselves through the eyes of God. He said we are chosen. We are fearfully and wonderfully made! We are God’s masterpiece. He sees us in our finished state! But how do you see yourself? What lens are you looking through and if it doesn’t line up with what God says, who have you allowed to taint your IDENTITY?
We have got to change the narrative and so that is what I am doing today. I have been styling people and creating concepts ALL MY LIFE! It’s what God has called me to do! I may not have always known that this is what I was doing but I know now! I own it now! I embrace it now! And now I want to share a bit of my passion and expertise with you!
Back in May, I got the opportunity to style three amazing women along with myself in a photoshoot that would serve as a relaunch for each one’s entrepreneurial endeavors. I had styled people before but never had I ran an entire photoshoot let alone for multiple people and on top of that, we were still very much in a “panorama”(pandemic lol). So that added a new level of challenge because when I started looking for outfits malls and stores weren’t popping open just yet. Also, I was very much terrified to do this because I had made up my mind that styling was not my gift and I will get into detail about that in another post for now let’s get into these looks

Above is the beautiful Shelette Wright who is a phenomenal hairstylist and shop owner of Love Beyond the Chair. She also has a ministry called God’s Daughter where she ministers to women all over about finding your identity in God and His word. In the first and last photo, she is wearing an Alia Maxi dress from Hanifa Co. In the second photo, we were able to pull this look with pieces from her personal wardrobe.
The dynamic sister duo above is Patrice Jones and Latrease Hines Rich they have a Friday night light that is affectionately known as Girl Chat that will soon be coming to a podcast platform near you! So we used this opportunity to shoot photos for promo. The loungewear seen in this photo is from my favorite store in the whole wide world Target.
Patrice Jones is also the COO of Little People Big Faith, a faith-based kid inspiration company that she runs with her two children Ian and Madison. She is also wearing pieces that we collected from her closet however you can find leather-look leggings here, a similar blouse top here, and an alternative blazer here.
Latrease Hines Rich wears many hats! She is one of my mentors and she is also the creator and founder of a LIFE CHANGING ministry called Positioning for Purpose. She ministers to hundreds of women and she pulls out what God has already placed in them. The ladies mentioned above and myself are a direct result of that! She is wearing a purple suit from Ashley Stewart. The suit, as well as the top, are no longer available but some of my favorite places to find work attire are Eloquii, Asos, and River Island. Check them out if you are not already hip!
Last but never least is yours truly! My tan outfit comes from Eloquii. The Satin brown duster can be found here and the satin drawstring pants here. The blue blazer I got from Pretty Little Things but this item is no longer available. A similar style can be found here.
Collectively we are powerful women that God placed together in a season where we didn’t even know we would need each other the way that we do! We have ministered together! We laugh together and it’s only right that we cry together! This photoshoot stretched me and taught me that with GOD I can do ANYTHING! I can overcome ANYTHING!
Thank you for sharing this journey with me!
Until Next Time!
Love always,
Ashley Lachea’
